How much do removals cost for a 3 bed house?
There is no price list. Each price is set after the survey and given in writing before you agree to anything. A three-bed semi with a drive and a top-floor flat with no lift are different jobs.
What moves the price up or down
- What is movingEvery room, plus the loft, the garage, the shed and the garden.
- Access at each endStairs, a lift, and how far the van stands from the door.
- Furniture to take apartAny piece that has to come apart and go back together.
- PackingFull, part or fragile-only, or none if you pack yourself.
- StorageNeeded when your sale completes before your purchase.
- DistanceA long move can run over one day or two.
What's different about moving house in Poole?
Poole adds parking for the van, two lifting bridges and the April to October closure on Poole Quay to plan around.
The removals team applies to the council for whatever the van needs at each end, such as a bay suspension. If anything is ever needed from you, you are told before the job is booked.
- A bay held for the van. BCP Council's terms for this are written for works, and ask for at least 8 weeks' notice for a one to five day restriction.
- A loading bay. The council's daily waiver for tradespeople is not valid here.
- Yellow lines with a loading ban. The waiver is not valid here either.
- Poole Bridge and Twin Sails Bridge. Lifts on request, on the half hour from 5:30am to 11:30pm, more at weekends, and a different timetable from 24 December to 1 January (BCP Council, updated 26 February 2026). Crossing one? Say so when you ring.
When is Poole Quay closed to traffic?
From 1 April to 31 October, 10am to 10pm, under a traffic order in force since 3 November 2025. Moving to or from the Quay then? Mention it when you ring.
What proof does a Poole parking permit need?
If you are new to the area, BCP Council says it will accept a schedule of insurance showing your name and address as proof of vehicle ownership.
The parking and permit questions on the home page cover each rule in full.

When should you book a house move?
- Now. Book the survey as soon as you have a date or a window.
- Weeks ahead, if parking is tight. BCP's terms for holding a bay ask for at least 8 weeks' notice, so say so early.
- Date fixed. Confirm it with the removals team in writing, and book any lift or loading slot.
- Moving day. Often completion day, so tell the team if you are in a chain.
If either home is a flat, ask the managing agent whether you need to book the lift or a loading slot. In Canford Cliffs and Poole Town wards, over half of households live in a purpose-built block of flats (Census 2021).
What should you show the surveyor?
Show the surveyor everything that moves, and every way out.
- Every room, and what is staying behind for the buyer.
- The loft.
- The garage and the shed.
- The garden.
- Anything heavy, fragile or awkward, and furniture to take apart.
- The stairs, the turns and the doorways.
- Where a van can stand, and how far it is to the door.
Then describe the stairs, lift and parking at the new home.
Do you need the packing service?
Only if you would rather not pack yourself; the options are in the key facts above. Packing yourself? Say so at the survey, so the quote and the cover match what you've packed.
Can your things go into storage between moves?
Yes, when your sale completes before your purchase. Ask where your things will be kept, and have the storage put on the same written quote as the move.
Moving to or from Purbeck?
Corfe Castle, Studland and Swanage are inside the area covered. The ferry from Sandbanks is the short way to Studland and Swanage, and if it isn't running, the van goes round by road through Wareham.
Moving to or from Sandbanks? BCP Council's 2009 appraisal describes it as joined to the mainland by a narrow arm at Banks Road, so tell the surveyor how your drive runs.
Moving further than Dorset?
The removals team takes moves to or from anywhere in Great Britain; one review above is a Dorset to Hampshire move. At the survey, ask whether yours runs over one day or two.
Questions
House moves: your questions
What insurance cover is there for my things?
Goods in transit and public liability. TVs and monitors, flat-pack furniture and self-packed boxes may be handled under specific terms, so ask about those at the survey.
Will the removals team take furniture apart and put it back together?
Yes. Say which pieces at the survey, so the written quote covers them.
Where do the reviews on this page come from?
Google, via the website of the team that carries out the moves, copied word for word on 6 November 2026. Surnames are cut to an initial and every cut is marked.
What if my completion date moves?
Tell the removals team as soon as you know. Before you book, ask what the terms say about moving or cancelling the date, and get the answer in writing.
